A few lines from FAMILY HONOR, by Jamie Hill

This week enjoy a few lines from Books We Love author Jamie Hill’s novel, Family Honor.

He pulled a bigger knife from his pocket. “I know you’re gonna be whoever I want you to be. I’m gonna call you ‘Mama’, and you’ll call me ‘Dickie’. If you don’t like it, our little game will end a lot sooner. It’ll be disappointing for me, but I can live with it.” He smiled. “Not sure you can.”

A few lines from... A Novel Murder - by Ginger Simpson

"I'm going to resign!"
"Resign?" Naomi's mouth gaped.
"God, you sound just like Tony. Relax. Not right at the moment, but as soon as our current cases are solved. I can't walk away when women...one of which I've met, are losing their lives."
"So, have you really thought this through?"
"You have no idea. I actually made some progress on my novel tonight, but my muse isn't cooperating because I can't stop thinking about Kitten and Persia."
"When did you get cats?"
"Oh, Nay. Those are the stripper names of the two dead women."
"Hmm, yeah now I remember. Sorry, guess I had a memory lapse. So more about this resignation thing..."
"I have my writing to fall back on, and my editor thinks this next story is going to be the one that makes me big bucks. I'm making out pretty good on the first, but I love to write, so being
free of the force will give me the time I need."

A simple investigation involving a dead homeless man quickly changes as Crystal enlists Jack's help with the children. Drawn into a mystery that none of them could have anticipated, they're faced with a situation that will change their lives forever.

"Ms. Hill is a genius! The plot line was AMAZING. It was action packed and kept me on the edge of my seat almost the entire time. Ms. Hill has become a favorite author of mine and I consider her to be an automatic add to my "to be read list". If you are a serious suspense loving reader who loves to form bonds with the characters, this is definitely the book for you! I loved it and can't wait to read more of Ms. Hill's books, she has the gift of knowing what the reader wants and then hitting you with an ending you certainly don't expect. Two thumbs up!" ~ Val, You Gotta Read Reviews, 5 Stars

BWL Blurbathon - The Abduction of Mary Rose by Joan Hall Hovey

The Abduction of Mary Rose
A suspense novel interwoven with threads of romance and paranormal.

Imagine discovering everything you believe about yourself to be a lie. And that the truth could stir a killer from his lair.

Following the death of the woman she believed to be her mother, 28-year-old Naomi Waters learns from a malicious aunt that she is not only adopted, but the product of a brutal rape that left her birth mother, Mary Rose Francis, a teenager of Micmac ancestry, in a coma for 8 months.

Dealing with a sense of betrayal and loss, but with new purpose in her life, Naomi vows to track down Mary Rose's attackers and bring them to justice. She places her story in the local paper, asking for information from residents who might remember something of the case that has been cold for nearly three decades.

She is about to lose hope that her efforts will bear fruit, when she gets an anonymous phone call. Naomi has attracted the attention of one who remembers the case well.

But someone else has also read the article in the paper. The man whose DNA she carries.

And he has Naomi in his sights.

"Hovey’s The Abduction of Mary Rose was disturbingly satisfying. Naomi’s resilience and the strength which she managed to acquire were inspirational. Also, the author allowing readers to peek inside the mind of a sociopath was riveting. The cold madness which he displayed was masterfully crafted. Even though his character was well tailored, the relevance of the other characters cannot be annoyed, the way in which the other characters were incorporated, allowed the story to flow well.

They added the components which led to Naomi achieving justice. The Abduction of Mary Rose was well worth the read and I hope that Hovey once more invites readers into Naomi’s world." ~ Kellie, You Need to Read, You Gotta Read Reviews

BWL Blurbathon - First Degree of Innocence by Ginger Simpson

First Degree Innocence by Ginger Simpson - a Contemporary Mystery Romance

http://amzn.com/1456320092

Sentenced to ten years for a crime she didn't commit, will Carrie Lang find someone who believes in her innocence? Experience the cold, gray walls, a devilish matron, the prison bully, and a scheme that pits Carrie against the closest friend she has inside. What part will her surprise visitor play in Carrie's bid for freedom?

Carrie Lang's sheltered life ends with a prison sentence for involvement in a bank robbery. Her arrest comes on the day she's called in sick and stayed inside, so she can't explain how an eye-witness describes her in great detail, down to the make and model of her car. A terrible mistake has been made, and her insistence of innocence falls on deaf ears. Even her fellow inmates don't believe her as it's a claim they all make. Alone in the world, she has no one to turn to for help, and not a single soul to campaign for her freedom...at least until she makes a valuable friend. In the meantime, a plan for retribution is brewing, and naïve Carrie finds herself smack dab in the middle of an evil scheme concocted by the prison bully. A ten year sentence seems mild when she's threatened with death for refusing to participate. Can Carrie find a way out of this horrible nightmare, or is she destined to spend her days locked in terror, isolation, and the cold gray interior of prison walls?
